The 81st Oaks Stakes took place on Friday 3rd June 1859 and was won by Summerside (4/1), by West Australian out of Ellerdale trained by T Taylor, who won by 1/2 length in 2 mins 55 secs. The winner won £4,295 (Equivalent to £489,600 in 2017) and there were 15 runners.
